DEDICATION TO TRISH- PHOTOJOURNALIST

I'm so in love with Natalie Merchant...well I am so, so, so in love with Stevie Nicks but nonetheless I keep remembering Natalie's song "Carnival" and music video. When I first saw this video on MTV I could not escape the feeling that she was doing what I wanted to do- capture people's lives with a camera. Trish's latest posting, inspired me to find this video to ensure that my memory of it was accurate. I still love it! The black and white video, and the simplicity of her subjects inspire me to capture more of the stories and the people that make up our days. Trish did this well at the hairdresser.....do we realize how many stories are out there?
The lesbian midgets laying on the beach (you know who gave me that story); the young German girl, coming to America for an exciting life; the patient who places trust in the hands of a caring and dedicated health care professional who sees him as an individual in need; the man that oversees Democracy's most valuable tool- the voting process; the poet who travels to distant lands and ends up learning more about herself than those she visited; the woman that balances photography, family, religion, job, mother, grandmother, friend.....and so it goes. There are stories everywhere. If you have time watch this video and let it motivate you to get out there and capture stories!
