Try, Try, and Try Again

I wanted to create an image of a floating chair, with bright whiteness all around it. I tried and tried but couldn't get the entire chair in view. I remember being told that if an image is cropped, eliminating part of the object, it needs to look like a purposeful crop. Keeping that in mind, I cropped in the only place I could so that the viewer knows what the object is. With this crop I was allowing myself to keep my "floating" idea alive. I know, this isn't the best, but I tried!

I really like this silhouette, Steve...great idea! I see a hint of blinds in the background...I assume this was shot in front of your window? Yesterday I almost photographed a chair in front of my window with blinds, too...wouldn't that have been funny?! But there were too many distracting elements in the background...I couldn't get a clean shot like you did. Great job!

I have an idea...thanks to Trish. Why don't we all decided to take a picture of something on the same day. Like we could all take a picture of a chair and post it. Or a lamp or anything. What do you guys think?
