Quick Stop Nets So-So Pics

A quick stop at my local hang out didn't produce results that I love, but day 1 million, 300 thousand, 8 hundred and fifty five in this competition is complete. Don't tell me I haven't even reached 200 yet!! Can I continue?? In the words of Obama, "YES I CAN"

I used my new lens on the tree above. You can begin to see that it was at least 16 years old at the time of its cutting. Sad really. I'll try to do better tomorrow!!

I love the tree. I once had the experience of being alone in a deep wood and suddenly, a tree fell a few yards behind me...a big one. It was amazing!!!! The power of the tree, the sound of the wood splitting and cracking, the way the forest just came alive. Your picture reminded me that not only must we look around at the beauty that surrounds us, but we must also allow our minds to take in that beauty, imagine the possibilities and appreciate what we are given.

I like them both as well, nice shadows in the first one and really good, sharp detail in the second.

Jamye's post points out that it is our responsibility (that word again) to view the world with the most positive vision that will be allowed and to "appreciate what we are given"

I really liked both of these images, Steve. The cross image was comforting, and I liked how the shadows streaked across the image. I liked the second image even better. I love close-ups...and you composed this one of the tree very well. Loved the lines drawing the viewer into and through the image. Sounds as though you weren't inspired by these photos, but I was! :-)

Well, I'm not sure why you're disappointed about this post? I like the first image a lot, and although it probably wouldn't win the the "Image of the Year" award according to the experts, I find it beautiful. The snow is white, the composition is good, the shadows are nice, it's simple and it's a very soothing image as far as I'm concerned. Good job.
